Weydown Swallowtail (2015)
Lemonshill Falcon x Cottrell Little Gem
2nd place at The Royal Welsh Show 2015 - Weydown Royal Consort

Denis was delighted when asked by Melvyns owner Elle Horler to show him at the Royal Welsh Show......

We thought his type, coupled with substance, bone and correct conformation, would suit the judge Miss Fiona Leadbitter of the Thornberry Stud and so it proved.

In a large class of yearling colts, with many ponies who'd enjoyed success throughout the season, Melvyn excelled himself in finsihing 2nd behind the outstanding Waxwing Peru.

This capped off a very successful season for Elle andher sister Hannah, who produced Melvyn beautifully throughout, picking up many wins at medal shows throughout the UK.

Congratulations from all at Weydown!!

A FILLY foal!!

We are thrilled to bits with this filly from our beautiful old mare COTTRELL LITTLE GEM - just what we'd ordered.

Again she is by Lemonshill Falconis, very feminine and with plenty of "look at me" - with the loveliest "pingy" trot!

Colt foal No.2 - Weydown Romeo

It would appear that our brief run of fillies has come to an abrupt end BUT we couldn't be happier with this big, scopey foal by the Supreme ridden and in-hand champion Lemonshill Falcon out of our daughters Sophie' mare WEYDOWN TABITHA, who herself is regally bred being by our senior stallion Cwrtycadno Cadfridog and out of the lovely Carolinas Bewitched who was by Carolinas Purple Emperor and out of Downland Philomel.

This colt is a fantastic, effortless mover with a big frame, plenty of bone, and great at both ends.

Surely a great ridden prospect for the future?

This boy certainly has a wonderful pedigree, a mix of champion bloodlines from all over Wales and Europe.

He has masses of presence and is an outstanding mover, with the look of his mother at the same age

He will be for sale to a show home, where his undoubted potential will be fulfilled.

A new pony!!

Very excited to announce that Touchstone will be joining the stud as our future show and an outcross stallion for our Cadfridog mares..... with grateful thanks to Richard and Mei at Heniarth.

Having admired Eyarth Windflower, since seeing her as a two year old, we couldn't possibly pass up the opportunity to buy a colt with two crosses of this lovely mare. Touchstone' sire is the very promising colt of Ingrid Delaitre's; Adagio de l'Aurore, who is by Heniarth Wood-Wind and out of the beautiful mare Etincelle Ravignan and his dam the full sister to Wood-Wind, being by the RWAS Champion Lemonshill Top Note and out of Windflower.

One for the future??

After much deliberation we have decided to retain Harvey for the foreseeable future.

Having watched his sire, perform beautifully, after only 4 weeks under saddle for his new owner and with his grandsire Cwrtycdano Cadfridog now 24, we thought it might be fun to run on and show Harvey during 2014. We think he is a very balanced, quality colt with good limbs, conformation and fantastic movement, so it will be interesting to see how he matures.

A fond farewell

We said a sad goodbye to Arum and Reflection or "Harris" who both made the long journey to Scotland, Arum returning to the Waxwing Stud following her loan spell with us and Reflection off to start a new life with Greig Stables and family.

Very grateful to Tom and David for entrusting us with this lovely little mare, who produced two outstanding colt foals for us, but sadly not the longed for filly.

Of course the very best of luck go to Greig and Harris!

Sadness and excitement

We bid a sad farewell to Consort who moves onto pastures new. He has been sold to a top ridden home where we feel sure he will be a great success and fulfil his undoubted ridden potential.

We wish him and his new owners all the best and look forward to following his success in the show ring.

We are delighted with his first crop of foals, one of which will be retained and three mares are safely in foal to him for 2014.

He's back!!

It's great to welcome home our old boy, having spent just over a year in France with Ingrid Delaitre, who he provided with 2 lovely fillies from her beautiful mare Etincelle Ravignan.

Sadly, his covering season didn't go anything like as expected due to circumstances outside of everyone's control, but he returns home to grace our paddockss with his beauty and to see out his days with his three daughters.....

Show success.....
Weydown Honey Buzzard

We made the trip to nearby Great Bookham to watch; Weydown Honey Buzzard (Cottrell Little Nell x Mynach Master Mariner) at his second show of the season at the South Eastern Association Silver Medal Show.

His first show of the season saw him finish a very respectable 2nd to the eventual champion at Towerlands Silver Medal Show back in April. this time he went one better to win his yearling class and later become reserve section B youngstock champion.

18th April 2012
New arrival......
Weydown Olympian

Our 2nd and final foal was born at the sensible time of 3pm and continues the colt theme bringing our total in the past five years to 7 with only 2 fillies.
